holy christ someone else who knows sho CKY is
Haha ;). Yeah not too many people know about them. I started listening to them around 2001 when Jackass was on MTV and they used some CKY songs in it.

Definitely a great, original rock band who don't give a fuck about what rock trend is popular at the moment... same as Clutch. I think Cluch is Jess Margera's (drummer for CKY) favorite band.

I think CKY is pretty well known, along with the Pixies.

I would venture to say Beta Band should have gotten a lot more recognition than they did.
I don't think they've very well-known. Pixies pretty much are, but I'm talking about bands that should have been huge. Neither band IMO is huge, especially CKY. Pixies have an underground following but they're not "huge", which I deem as mainstream, on radio all the time, like Green Day or something.

That CKY video is boring as fuck. The Clutch one however got my toes tapping.
Hehe. That is one of their more mellow songs. Still good though, that writes killer guitar riffs.

How about this song (video kinda sucks but song is good)? Another good one.

Nope, just doesn't do it for me, but thats the beautiful part about music. To each his own!

um, what?

They got mildly popular based on one of their worst songs of all time, which was part of their weakest album, then (as far as I can tell) faded back into obscurity. Hell, the local rock station just played something from their new album during their "edge of the X" session. Which means the Clear Channel-owned station considers JEW an up-and-coming band on the fringe of becoming well-known.

Or are you arguing that they shouldn't be big because they aren't good? If that's the case, well, you're entitled to your opinion.

I used ot think Blur should have been huge in the US (after all, they were big in every other country), but now that I look back I can see why they never hi it big (besides song 2). They are just to British. America (and Canada for that matter) just can't relate to the music...

BTW...SUPERDRAG!!!!!

Sublime...they had a couple hits but nothing like a little death to hold you back from really making it big.

Who knows what would've happened had Bradley not died, but IMO Sublime is pretty damn big.

Sublime is huge. If I'm turning to popular radio stations and still hearing your music 8 years after you put it out there then you are huge. Both Jimmy Eat World and Sublime shouldn't be on this list.

Oh and the list that I made are all fake names. All of them.

The point that I was trying to make is they would have been even bigger/more popular if he hadn't died.

These guys are pretty obscure yet excellent: Blackwater Park
Opeth's album of the same name shed some light on them for me. I really enjoyed it, and have since started listening to a lot more prog and psychedelic rock.

oh come on... pixies??

that's easily the most jerked off over indie darling ever.. and for what it's worth I think they're fucking terrible hacks.

read steve albini's comments on surfer rosa sometime, it's embarrassing.

They got pretty close a few years ago, not sure what happened. I wish I could have seen them live, I hear it's one of the best shows to see.

Really? I had no idea. Nobody I know has ever heard of them.

KT

In the early 2000's they seemed like they were getting fairly well-known. All of my friends knew who they were and for a while put them on the same level as The Strokes as far as popularity goes.

They had 1 hit, if I remember correctly. Not exactly "huge".

I guess they were/are bigger in the north east.
