Actually the consensus on AT so far is that you suck.

aaawwe...give the guy a chance. Its not his fault that he has demented views of the world and hatred for people he doesn't know. He's actually a pretty nice guy once he gets done with all that hatred.

Plus he sends naked pics of his hot sister. I think he should be elite!

Fair point. I still would like to have seen those aforementioned aspects from the different soldiers they did follow.

But that was the point. The Pacific front waged on for years, the European front was only a year. The Pacific front was much more brutal and you couldn't develop the same sense of camaraderie when compared to a group that trained together and fought together.

I never got that Sledge was selfish, and Leckie just seemed to not want to be there. Basilone certainly wasn't selfish. I'm not sure where that complaint was rooted.

Band of Brothers was good at telling the story it wanted to tell, the "rah rah" part of war. The Pacific was good at telling the story if wanted to tell, the "war is brutal" part of war. Both are valid topics when dealing with war stories. The Pacific would have been pretty pointless if it just wanted to be Band of Brothers II.

Great series! I have it on DVD and Blu-Ray and will watch it when it's on TV as well.

Wasn't as thrilled with the Pacific series.... was watchable, but haven't really wanted to see it again.

Perhaps selfish wasn't a good description. Admittedly I haven't rewatched The Pacific since the original airing, but I always remember a lot of guys whining and complaining at every turn. (Edit: Let me be clear that I certainly don't think any less of the troops that were portrayed. My issue is with the script and portrayal of those characters)

I could live with that I suppose, but there was way too many sex scenes, intimate scenes, and love story. Like I said earlier, every time I turned around something.... risqué was going on.

Weird. I just caught the tail end of the final episode and literally seconds before I scrolled down to this thread, I had the same thought. Final 20 minutes of the final episode choke me up no matter how many times I see it.
