Just made some for breakfast. It is realllly good. What else do oatmeal eaters like to add to their oatmeal?

I love this Bananas and Cream oatmeal that comes in the Meijer Brand. They have 4 packs in a variety box. I love it.

My problem with eating plain oatmeal and fruit is that I love a LOT of fruit in my oatmeal. :)

i actually mix a packet of quaker instant oatmeal (various flavors), a packet of Hakka Pestle cereal (asian version of oatmeal, its a powder) and a big scoop of tasteless vanilla protein mix. Makes an excellent grub that still tastes like the quaker flavored oatmeal.

Eh? Mine doesn't taste like any kids cereal I've ever had. I just use real rolled oats and fresh bananas.

I like plain quaker oats, very thick, with raisins, a pinch of brown sugar, and a tsp of maple syrup

I'm surprised to read that "adults" eat that instant oatmeal crap they make for children. That stuff is NASTY.

Gimme old-fashioned long cooking oats. Quaker is ok, Snoqualmie Falls oats are IMO much better, and SOME of the steel cut oat cereals are GREAT.
These all actually have texture and flavor, as compared to that powdered crap in a packet that's more flavorings than cereal.

I really HATE instant oatmeal, but buy it to keep at work in a pinch.
Personally, the whole, longer cooking oat are 100x better in flavor and texture.
I will cook those adding just a bit of brown sugar, milk and some raisins if I am in the mood.

 What is the point of eating something craptastic just to eat it. If I am going to take time to microwave some slop, why not take an extra few moments to cook something that I really will enjoy! plus, the instant crap has so much sugar and preservatives.

Uh...are you mistaking me for someone else?

I don't use that shit. I buy real, 'old fashioned', rolled oats. Steel cut as well...from Guilford Mill.

Then I add a freshly cut banana and sometimes some butter or cream.

Thats it. I am not talking about "Quaker instant Banana and Cream oatmeal", christ.

Nah, I'm referring to the other posters who are talking about various oatmeal-in-a-packet types of stuff. (although from your first post, that's what I thought you were referring to)

I never cared much for anything in my oatmeal besides sugar and milk. (or cream)

No brown sugar, no raisins, no maple syrup...

But if you like it with fruit...at least you're eating a healthy breakfast...that's the most important thing.

Word. I don't like using maple syrup because it adds to much moisture. Not too fond of raisins anymore. I feel like the fruit adds enough natural sweetness.

I'm not a morning person so an extra few minutes of sleep is more important than eating better-quality oatmeal.

For me it's Quaker instant (flavor variety or fruit & cream variety) with sone chopped walnuts added for flavor / texture / omega 3 oils. The Quaker banana flavored is decent with the added walmuts.

Now coffee, that I'm semi-snobby about: Starbucks Caffe Verona blend, fresh-ground from beans, turbinado sugar and 2% milk. Eating second-rate oatmeal gives me more time to brew this essential morning beverage.
