I'm becoming very suspicious of this sudden market craze for bamboo. It seems very fabricated, does it not?

If it were such a wonder material, and abundant for centuries as it has been, why is it only now the supposed Jesus material?

As the Apostles found out, it is all in the marketing.

Wondering about that myself. They don't have any at the nearby Bed Bath & Beyond, so I'm not sure what they actually feel like. Reviews though are good on Amazon.

On a related note, any experiences with boxsprings for memory foam mattresses? I've seen a few that are collapsible, which would be better for moving. I hate moving boxsprings.

Hmm interesting. I didn't even know that such a thing existed.

I've had the chance to feel a few bamboo sheets, they felt really nice. I would definitely consider them when we need a new set.

I had some bamboo underwear. They were good.

I'll probably go with linen sheets next though.

You think we're being bamboozled?

:D exactly.

My suspicion is that some dude, or a small number of dudes, got into some bamboo harvesting/importing deal for pennies out of China, and have been spending piles of cash inventing this impression that bamboo is the new Jesus wood and will single-handedly save the planet if you simply purchase their wonderful bamboo products.

do not get box springs.

the jury is well out on the fact that box springs are completely useless.

Open one up if you don't believe me--they are simply hollowed-out wooden platforms.

memory foam needs a flat platform, anyway. Though be careful--that tight space if unventilated could lead to a serious mold bloom. It happened to me. :(

The word Rayon in there would make me stay away. Everything I've ever had with rayon is a nightmare for wrinkling and feel. What's wrong with those high thread count cotton sheets? If it works don't try and fix it.

Yeah, I agree with you there - box springs are a PITA. Only reason I need one is that my bed frame couldn't support a memory foam mattress as-is. It just has slats across it. Although, I guess I could add in more slats. But, then I need to ventilate it as you say. Plus, I prefer to have the mattress physically higher up from the bottom of the bed frame.

depends on the number of slats--I have about 12, I think (queen size) and that is perfectly fine. I had put down thin, flat boards at first, likely because of your similar concerns.

turns out that all I did was create a mold farm on the bottom side of the mattress cover (doesn't seem to have penetrated the mattress.

slats alone are just fine for foam, I have learned; and when you live in fog like we do here in the east bay, breathing is important.

Whats with the obsession with high TC, silky smooth sheets anyway? Just turn in your man card and buy a quilt of tampons sewn together already. Jesus.
