We really need to have face control laws so that officers are better protected in the future.

The cop has resigned. Guess he found out he wasn't really part of the club... wonder why?

Still an active criminal investigation. Cool, now we can send him to inhumane prison system, the justice just keeps flowing!

This wasn't about race at all. Baltimore, like most big city cop shops, is highly integrated. As a first offense, the ex-cop will likely plead guilty to a misdemeanor, receive probation, fines, & public service.

Oh he was part of the club and if this wasn't caught on video he would have gotten away with it scott free, I guarantee his partner would have backed up any story that he made up too. If there was any wiggle room at all they would have at least dragged their feet for quite a while hoping to sweep it under the rug. They still let him resign instead of actually firing him and I bet he got some favorable terms on what they are allowed to tell any potential employers calling for a reference.

If he doesn't get charged and found guilty of a felony, which I highly doubt he will, I'd bet dollars to donuts that this asshole will be working for a different police department eventually.

Isn't the Baltimore police department 'laying low' right now which is causing a spike in their crime rates?

He's been put on suspension (with pay) while they investigate and the other cop who didn't try to stop him is on administrative duty. I don't think it looks at all good for the officer, but I guess we'll see what develops. Sounds like he had a history with this guy.

He resigned after going viral.. I hear they were going to do likewise to his kid sister and mother..

Karma can be such a little bitch sometimes..

Oh, please. Anybody can quit any time they want & employers have no recourse. Ex-employers are generally reticent to release much information that isn't positive about former employees, anyway-

He was smart to quit. It plays well in court when you try not to be more of a PITA than you already are. It also plays well for future employment that you weren't fired.

The moral of the story is "Don't let 'em get to you". That's particularly true for cops. A usual condition of probation for this kind of stuff is a lot of counseling at the probationer's expense. It often helps.

I am still at a loss as to why these two are not charged with a crime. Suspended and on administrative leave, what the fuck is that? IF a police officer had this video footage of 2 other individuals beating the shit out of a man those two would have been arrested and charged with at least assault. WHY are these two collecting a paycheck? Why was the ones resignation accepted, he should have been put in cuffs and after convicted, fired and forced to do whatever time that crime carries. I wonder if he would be OK with something like that happening to him or his partner?...

Dunno why he would be. He tried ineffectually to restrain his partner. He's like "Wut?" & it was over.
What? Did you watch the video? He was helping his partner by grabbing the guy getting the shit beat out of him for no reason. They should both be brought up on the same charge.

Cop #2 didn't see how it began. He didn't hit the guy, either.

OK. So it does not matter to you how something starts its perfectly OK for an officer to pummel the fuck out of someone who is not fighting back? Interesting. I wonder if you would feel the same way if it was your kid who was the one having the fuck beat out of him, or is it just that the guy was black and probably deserved it for something he had done at some point in his life. If the second cop needed that much time to figure out who was the aggressor, he might need to go back to school.

Aww, C'mon. Cop #2 was like "WTF?" and the guy was on the ground. He's not the bad guy.

Neither am I, so I'd appreciate it if you'd lay off the personal attacks.

That is a seriously relaxed take on the second cop. If that had been a perp attacking another person and that second cop was that slow to react...

It seems like cops are far more willing to allow one of their own to be a sacrificial lamb when that cop is a minority. This is based entirely on anecdotal observation and probably heavily seasoned with confirmation bias.

Why try to make this into something it's not?
