Bally Total Fitness: Is Ripping Me Off

Aimster

Lifer
I signed up with the student plan and my contract was only for 4 months.

After that I pay on a month to month basis.

Well for some reason they calculated some BS and they say I owe $100 and that I still owe them for this month.

I told them to cancel my membership and they said I need to pay $100.

I told them to go to hell.

The don't have my social security number (I gave them a fake one), but they have everything else.

will this go on my credit report?

This is not the first time they have done this to me!

Next time, RTFC! 😉

It may have had something to do with proper notification of cancellation. Or maybe it was just a "he doesnt know any better, lets just stick it to him" fee.

You signed a contract, if they're trying to make you pay more than your contract states for the 4 months it was for, tell them to fvck off and take you to court. If it's for the months afterwards, they can change the price as they please, but not after a month has already completed and you've already paid in full.

I believe they could send a collection agency on you, which could hurt your credit.

I hate Crunch (and their partner company, Bally's) because of their impossible contracts. They are all friendly with you and start scheduling your free personal trainer lesson before the contract is signed, then try to get you to sign their contract on the spot. I insisted on reading it through and thought the terms were ridiculous. They require you to come in X many times a week and only allow you out of the contract if you can provide proof from a doctor that you can't physically exercise anymore or you're moving to a place with no partnership gym. If I want to stop exercising or go with another gym, that's MY choice. I shouldn't have to prove anything.
