..and I was passing a very well known speed trap...on a two lane ~60MPH(SpL is 45) highway


and I see a cop runs out into the middle of the road with his radar gun, point in at an oncoming Porsche Boxter who was speeding and hadn;t seen him, and flag him down, forcing the guy to slam on his brakes.

Now that takes balls.
 
Yeah those guys step out in fornt of some fast cars, and half the time the driver is on a cell-phone and doesn't see them until the last second.

The men (and women 😉) who do that for a living must have balls of steel.
 
I've heard that the cops in New Orleans do that. I've also heard that at least a couple of them die per year in accidents resulting from that tactic. Crazy! :Q
 
I thought this was going to be a thread on those balls that hang from the trailer hitch you see on trucks occasionally. Man, that has to be the gayest thing ever. :roll:
 
Saw this once driving through Virginia or Tennesse, can't recall which. Absolutely the most unsafe act I've ever seen by a state trooper. About a 1/2 mile semisteep downgrade with 20-30 cars traveling in both lanes. Trooper jumps out from behind the guiderail shrouded w/ vegitation to the center of the passing lane with his hand in the air signalling the passing lane to stop as if he was at a downtown intersection. Cars immediately trying to slide into the driving lane all while cutting their speed bracing for an impending pileup. Some forced onto the shoulder to make room for other cars.

Very poor judgement, IMHO. Also very lucky his life or the lives of others were not lost.

They will do that in Maryland. Not only will they step out in front of a speeding car but they will line up 3 or 4 more cars just to give them tickets.

My friend came up over a hill around here and was speeding. A cop helping some woman who had ditched her car jumped out in the middle of the road in front of him. Not the car, just the cop. Jumps out with his hand up. So he slams on his brakes. The cop just screams at him to slow down.

WTF, do they WANT to die?

I get what you're saying, but I had to read that twice before I could truly understand what happened. Try typing lessons, and maybe even a refresher course in 5th grade English.

I never said that the Porsche was the only car he stopped....I just stated that he stopped a Porsche....he made like 2 other cars join him as well😀

thankfully, during my years in maryland that never happened to me.
but damn, i didnt know people did that.
 
So this must be on a stretch of highway where there isn't an offramp near, right? Because what if the Boxster didn't stop...the cop would have to run back to the car and/or radio for someone else, whereas the Boxster's already going 60MPH...

Not saying this should be attempted, that's stupid...just curious.

There was an on ramp to a another highway about 1/4 mile away.....

oh, and the cop had a motorcycle 😉
