um.. u failed to mention that ALL the other states past their same-sex marriage ban. Winning 1 out of 8 isnt something to be gloating.

but i am surprised that the super conservative Red state of south Dakota rejected the abortion ban.

Abortion has obviously been decided already by the supreme court, but there may be enough conservative justices to overturn that now... passing a law against abortion would be the first step.

The same sex marriage votes were mostly for state constitutional amendments I think. Constitution > court.

And lets not forget all the minimum wage increases that were passed. ;)

People don't think these things through. :(

I guess it should shock me how many ignorant people there are in this country but nothing really surprises me anymore.

Marriage laws are determined by the states, not the federal government. It would take an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to change that.

Except that your marraige would only be recognized in states that allowed it, so you'd still be considered unmarried in your home state.

Marriage is between an man and women. Theres nothing wrong with same sex couples having the same rights as us...but marraige isn't a right. I live next to a same sex couple and I don't care at all, but the government shouldn't make those decisions. The people should, which is what happened.

I applaud the stem cell research, it will help a lot of the worlds citizens regardless of color, creed, nationality or political belief.

Not really if you looked at it. It went too overboard. If they had better defined it and allowed abortions for such pesky things as rape and incest it likely would have passed. It was a draconian measure that had no place being a law.

That had been the idea. Get the law passed, get a nice court challenge on Roe v. Wade, and use the conservative justices to repeal the decision. Thankfully there were enough people to realize that it was stupid and were able to put a stop to it, as opposed to the politicians who passed it overwhelmingly.

I'd agree with you. If civil unions had the same rights as marriages then I'd favor civil unions only for homosexual couples.

I would vote against a ban on abortion and I don't really give a crap if gays are allowed to marry each other. I'm a registered Republican BTW.

Oh, and stem cell research is fine with me too.

Same sex marriage is still illegal in AZ, its just not part of the AZ constitution.
