The back of the vest features a large secure webbing pocket for hydration systems/bladders or a ballistic shield.

But nothing to protect the front of the vest, say left side where the heart is located? Instead you have a cell phone pocket.

Yeah, this is a tactical vest and not a bulletproof vest. It's meant to be worn over a bulletproof vest.

But why have a pocket for a ballistic plate in the back then?
if you're engaged in a firefight, wouldnt a ballistic plate around the heart be more useful?

not if your squad mates are no good backstabbing SOBs who can't wait for the first opportunity to take you out.

My cell phone is made of boron nitride, with a kevlar carrying case. :colbert:

according to all the news I have seen on here, the cops are doing all the firing so guarding your back is statistically more important

Because if you mount up in your vehicle for a long ride, you might not want to be sitting down with a ESAPI plate on your back for a long ride. This allows you to drop your gear and your back plate and ride comfortably, or at least as comfortable as you can get wearing body armor with ceramic ballistic plates.

I can protect my front. I can't, however, always see what's behind me.

Considering most are bought by mall ninja's that run at the first sign of trouble then no, a ballistic plate for the back makes perfect sense.

Reminds me of a "joke" I heard as a kid.
Why do French battleships have rear view mirrors?
So they can watch the war.

You only need the plate in the back to catch the rounds while your partner assembles the single shot NEF to return fire. Just don't forget the up-armored briefcase.

Seriously though, that vest is cheap, Made-in-China shit.
