I am installing my blinds and had a custom cut on them, but got the valance the stock size and cut it down to perfect size, so it fits in the window framing (reads: inside mount).
Well, after I got the valance cut to specs (perfect fit and was quite impressed), I put it on the headrail, put the brackets on the end of the headrail, and was holding it up to the window so see where the brackets should be to get a flush fit...thinking the wood valance should be flush with the wall when put inside the framing.
Well, the plastic brackets that secure the valance to the headrail extend the valance about 2" from the headrail; therefore, even if the blinds are mounted as far back in the window casing as possible, the valance sticks out from the wall, allowing you to see the ends of the wood along the wall.
Is this normal? My wife argues that it is, but I say no. I am no thinking we needed 1" or 1 1/2" blinds to get the valance to install flush to the wall within the window frame.
Who's right?
