I'd like to buy a new game, but dont know what to get. I know BG 2 is out, and was wondering what you people thought about it.

What type of game is it? can it be replayed or is it the same game all the time?

My other choice is NHL 2001, but I dont know if I really want it.

If you value your grades, job, or any life you have, you will not play this game.

At all.

Baldur's Gate I was a kickass game. Baldur's Gate II is like crack on your computer. Each aspect of the game has been refined down to the purest granules of gaming goodness. The character development is awesome, some really funky stuff happends to your main character. You actually have meaningful interactions with the people in your party and in the world. You can customize the baza out of your character. The spells get just awesome. The graphics rock, the characters rock, the bad guys rock. Man, I wish I had my social life back :), just kidding.

Qwik is my rommmate.
Whenever I wake up/go to sleep/go to class/come back from class, hes playing it.
I like to watch, but I refuse to touch a RPG.

The fireballs are cool.
His main character is pretty cool. Hes got two swords and he gibs people whenever he touches em.

I heard from one of my friends that it's 500000000000000000 times better than the first one (might be off by a zero or two). =)

My advice: It's l33t, buy it. If you have a girlfriend then dump her now as she will only needlessly take up prime BG2'ing hours. She might also become jealous of the in-game romances, which -by the way- are much more rewarding than the real thing. :D

Stefan, don't bother with it, you will only loose in the long run. I bought bg1 and I haven't been seen since. I'm sure some of my friends have called me in as a missing person by now. I'm serious about this, games are meant to be fun, to play a while to stop stress. This damn game is so engrosing and needlessly long as to severely tax my time, it's like crack. If BG2 is better than bg1 then don't bother with it. Save yourself, go buy daikatana instead and be more productive in your life.

The game is AMAZING! I got BG1 a little while ago and haven't bought 2 yet but I played it a couple times at friends houses all I have to say is WOW.

*Discaimer: If you get addicted to this game and cease having a life its not my fault ;) *

Whisper - in-game romances?

I knew that little tease Imoen was coming on to me, I just knew it. Do you get to shag her rotten?

Probably the most engaging game I have ever played. If you like D & D or cRPGs even a little bit, then you will LOVE this game. Search for reviews on the net, they are all sparkling!

Also, I thin kthe replayability would be excellent. You can't do EVERYthing the first time through, and there are an infinite number of character types and party members to try.

Is it still worth playing if you don't import your BG1 character, and you haven't finished BG1?

I just finished BG2 last night, and I have to say if you like RPG's and you don't buy this game you are seriously cheating yourself. This is THE BEST RPG I have ever played. This game single handedly lowered my grades in three of my classes because I could not stop playing it. Thank god I'm done.

Of course I did start a new game with a different charater class, must.....stay.....away....can't let grades.....slip........ :)

trimv, look buddy, we don't need your kind around here. ;)
There are those of us trying our best to encourage others not to get addicted to BG2(crack) and your not helping.

Take if from a BG1 addict guys... it's not worth throwing away your life, don't buy BG2. If you do get it, plan on throwing away the next few weeks of your life. Anybody know an rpg version of AA ?

It is definitely worth playing even if you haven't finished BG1. The intro summarizes what happens for you. I beat BG1 but I started over with a new character because I wanted to take advantage of the new character class stuff. It's the best game since, well, nothing even comes close.

I started a new character in BG2 instead of importing my BG1 character. Mainly because I really didn't like my BG1 character that much. The character I just beat the game with is a level 19 Warrior with the Berserker kit. I'm starting a new game, but this time I'm doing multiplayer so I can create two characters, a Mage, and a Warrior with the Kensai kit.
