- In the Underdark.
- Went to the Beholders Lair.
- Queen Beholder cast an Imprisonment spell on Mazzy, for which there is no defense (Shield of Balduran wont protect, she can't cast Spell Immunity and doesnt have a Beserkers Enrage).
- I freed her with a scroll of Freedom, she is back in the game world as an NPC.
- Normally this is where I would talk to her and get her to rejoin the group, BUT, she refuses to talk.
"Mazzy has nothing to say to you." Over and over again. Have not had this problem before. Normally when I save someone from Imprisonment or being turned to Stone, I can restore them, talk to them, and get them back. Not so this time.
Has anyone else had this problem in BG2? Talking to an NPC who is supposed to be joinable and they refuse to talk?

I was fooling enough to walk outside that dungeon and walk back in, so my Autosave is now the one where I dont have her in the group. Cant go back in time now.
Is there anything I can do with Shadow Keeper or another editing program to force Mazzy back into my group? Are there any flags I could reset to have her start back over in the Shadow Dragons lair, ready to join me again from scratch?

I'm pretty sure you could reset her with Shadowkeeper. How exactly, I am uncertain. I usually just edited physical stats and added health potions.

how do you avoid doing that - wouldnt a crit do that by default?

just equip lower damage weapons, or use your mages to attack. You can use the CLUA console and I think its like Ctrl + K and you can kill anyone.

Actually, if someone is NOT in your party you cannot revive or resurrect them.
You need to be able to click on their grey portrait to cast such spells or use the Rod of Resurrection.

Dont sweat it, I'm already in Throne of Bhaal and it doesnt matter now. This is yet another reminder to create a hard save before I enter any Mind Flayer, Demi-Lich or Beholder lairs.
I had a hard save at the beginning of the Underdark, but that was several hours earlier and I had done a crap load of work since then.

Ah yes good point.

I had a similar issue but it was someone that was major in the plot that I couldn't find, therefore I couldn't progress in the story. It was because of the gibblering three fixpack and widescreen mod that caused it. It gets annoying with some little things but overall the fixes are so nice.
