Balanced broadband choices?

I'm getting pretty tired of the lag I have when everyones online. I currently have asymmetric 3.0/256 cable for ~$80 a month and it really bogs down even when reading forums here. What are my choices and how much?

PS- My speed test at dslreports.com, when no ones home, is a bit slow at 2.4/198

Another cable company, dsl, dialup, wireless isp, nothing much else. What do you mean it really bogs down when reading the forums?

BTW, that price is terribly expensive.
