I've heard many terrible things about that place.

...which actually makes me want to visit.

So does Tacoma, WA.

"The aroma of Tacoma" lol

Having lived in WA for over 30 years, I can attest to the Aroma of Tacoma, at least I used to be able to. The aroma was from pulp mills, a byproduct of sulfur if I remember correctly. Anyway, it is pretty much gone now, only noticeable if the winds are blowing just right.

It is all but gone now.

Tell me about it. I made the drive back in June with the top down. D:

cow shit is, by far, the most tolerable of all animal dung. If they are grass-fed, there is essentially no odor. I don't think this is true for corn-fed, of course.

you want a truly shitty drive, head through a part of the country known for massive hog lagoons, or even worse--the chicken farms. BLAHHHH!

Bakersfield has got nothing on San Bernardino. Plus, if you installed huge hood scoops and a battery powered supercharger, you'd never have to buy gas in the summer.

Montgomery AL does as well. Whoever decided a paper mill should be built just outside the capital city of a state should be shot.

I remember Aroma Tacoma in the 60's and early 70's before they closed down the smelters and wood chip plants. It used to fucking reek...

Yes Olds, Bakersfield stinks...but it should. It's the part of California where you'd put a hose to give the state an enema...

I used to make the trip through that area, I think it was I-5, 2-3 times a year, and I got to where I knew exactly when to turn off the AC.

You think you've smelled some bad smells, but I swear the first time I passed through there I could hardly breath and I was like freaking out. It smells like you ran over a dead carcass which is now stuck in your AC vent and you're just inhaling its smells.
