Baked Potato - Oven Speed Method

Try this method for speeding up the potato baking process
(for a better texture than those that you microwave).
Pre-heat the oven to 400. Place the potato in boiling water
for 10 minutes. Bake for 30 minutes. This will cut the
cooking time in half.

Why google it, don't any of you cook? It's 5 min per potato in the microwave.

they are going along with a couple of steaks I have marinating right now, so perhaps I will take the time to bake them...

350 for an hr.. with holes poked for air. and wrapped in foil.

Edit:

I dont like the potatoes in the microwave because i like to eat the skins too (thats where all the nutrition is)

I always go for about 10 min. in the microwave, although I guess it depends on the size of the potato and how "soft" you want it to be, and maybe even on the power of your microwave. I think they take much longer than that if you bake them in the oven (I've never tried it myself, but they do taste better that way, IMO).

If you're grilling with charcoal, put them in the grill directly on the charcoal with no wrapping. Just peel the skin off afterwards.

4 large baking potato's:

45 minutes @ 400, cut ovals into the top and scoop out the guts, mash guts together with two TBS butter, 1/3 cup sour cream (or french onion dip :)) fresh chives and four slices of crumbled bacon and a crapload of salt & pepper. (maybe a little milk depending on consistancy)

Scoop mashed guts back into potato jackets and top with cheddar cheese, bake for 8 mins @ 300 or until cheese is all bubbly like.

That sounds delicious.

Anyway, I'm back to report that an hour at 350 was a little on the short side. Another 15 mins or so would have been perfect for medium sized spuds. The steak was good though. :D

Don't marinate a steak! You marinate chicken or pork, but not beef. Geez, man. Buy good steaks and just season them with salt and pepper...it doesn't get any better.

Bleh, I love me some marinated steak...when I actually eat red meat, that is.
