Bake sale causes firestorm......those crazy college kids (( pics ))

There was a rumor going around that Asian students were being required to solve a very complex calculus problem if they wanted discounted cookies. In actuality, Asians just had to pay more than white people because they are an "over-represented minority". These two students came and demanded to see the calculus problem. I offered them some free cookies. "No, you don't understand, we want to solve the calculus problem! We're techies!" To each his own, I guess.

Texas A&M does the same thing. It was pretty big in the newspapers here a few weeks ago. A&M is the only Texas public college that refuses to use the current racially motivated admissions policy designed by the state. The Texas A&M President even confirmed his belief of not using race as a factor in admissions. Good for him!

Actually all state institutions in Texas do not use race as a factor for admissions, or they didnt until the ruling by the Supreme Court over summer. Affirmitive Action was banned in Texas after the Supreme Court of Texas ruled against it in the '90s. However the US Supreme Courts ruling slightly cracked open the door.

I wish they would do that all over the country. Admissions based upon race or culture is ridiculous.
