ROFL!

Here ya go:

Running out of space for your Hotmail messages?
We know that e-mail storage space is a little like closet space ? you never seem to have enough. That's why we're offering you a chance to get an additional 8MB of storage space for your Hotmail account. That gives you a total of 10MB of storage, which is perfect for all of those photos and other attachments you have in your folders. It's only $12.95 a year, so upgrade to 10MB now!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

So? :)

I use 2 megs. I could use more. I wouldn't mind having more...but can't really be bothered to pay $13/year for more. Hotmail owns! And you know this - that's why you use it!

Well, we all knew it would happen - as soon as M$ bought hotmail we all knew they'd ruin it somehow and at some time. I stopped using hotmail as soon as they bought it...:disgust:

What's so funny?? If you want the extra space, you're gonna have to pay for it. If you don't plan on using more than 2MB, then what are you laughing for? I just don't get it.

Geez... Change that topic dude. When I first read it I thought it was mandatory for ALL users to pay to use Hotmail. Like NFS4 said, what's wrong bout paying more? A lot of other providers do that e.g. amexmail.com, hushmail.com

you have to be a moron to think this is funny, its still bloody free. if they wanted to really crack down they'd ask for personal information and verfication to prevent ppl from having more then one account/abusing accounts.

He thinks it's funny because IT IS. Charging money for free webmail? Webmail is MEANT to be free, cause 99.9% of webmail services are limited in many ways and disallow POP/SMTP access which bothers a lot of people who would love to make use of that, including myself.

As for me, I use webmail on my ISP which also works with outlook express using POP/SMTP servers, as well as a free email address with my friend's server, I can also log in via the web or use POP/SMTP. Those two accounts are far better in every way in comparison to hotmail.com and others (although hotmail has improved). Hotmail used to get billions of spam messages... They seem to have improved on that, but it's still ultra slow if you're on dialup the whole thing is images! Ridiculous. It looks like WinXP, although I admit I like the interface much more than actual WinXP.

Now charging money for what people could easily get for FREE, is ludicrous! Don't you see the humor in it? It's so stupid it's funny. Microsoft's trying to charge us for everything, even though they don't have to or need it for the money. They'd get more users by simply removing all costs related to mail and such. But they don't care about the users do they? I didn't think so.

That's COMPLETELY insane! You'd have to be a moron to sign up for that service. There are thousands of free online webmail services, and hundreds of opportunities to snatch an account superior to hotmail's, for free. Thus, one wouldn't be a moron to find MS charging for email FUNNY!

Ohh, so YOU deserve to get free email service? Give me a break, or go suck on your silver spoon. MS doesn't OWE you anything. They don't even OWE you 2MB. Be happy you have it. It costs them money to run the Hotmail service. The tech sector is in a slump, and MS wants some $$$. I see nothing wrong with that.

If you don't like, use some other service and stop complaining.

The reason I use hotmail, even though I have a web-based and pop-mail capable email account with work, is because

1) It is tied in with MSN messenger which is IMO the best messenger out there. When I get an email it tells me right away. BOO YAH.
2) I have had the same email for years and people know it and I know it. I don't want to go with an inferior service which may either close doors or have severe server problems - which have plagued hotmail at times in the past - but for the last long while it has been fast and nearly flawless.

<------------- Big M$ Basher

I dont see what the big deal is... they arent charging you for the service, just charging you if you want to take up more space on their servers. Seems fair.

<< Well, we all knew it would happen - as soon as M$ bought hotmail we all knew they'd ruin it somehow and at some time. I stopped using hotmail as soon as they bought it... >>

Well, I guess I ruined my own business, I give customers free webspace with thier dialup accounts, but if they want more, they have to pay for it

Actually, Hotmail can be used with Outlook Express, which is why I use it.

RSI, based on this post and your post yesterday about the PCI bus, you come off as an ignorant hate-monger and there is no point in arguing with you.

Wow, they truly will try anything to make a buck. MS is one company I can honestly say I have mixed emotions about. On one hand they have revolutionized the OS world, and on the other hand they make sure nobody else has a chance to do the same and on top of that they charge a mind while doing so. Talk about brass balls.

I really think that in the near future we will begin to see OSs' that can compete with the Windows linewithout floundering, but until then if you are not a computer savy geek like most on this forum, you are stuck with Microshaft's offerings, not that they are all that bad.

I use yahoo and get 6MB free with same/more features as hotmail (at least the ones I want), and I get a briefcase account that holds 30MB. So there! Hotmail fans :D

Anyway, you are lucky to get any email for free, it costs them money to run it and banner ads aren't profitable anymore. If you dislike their service, simply disconnect and try one of the many other free services as you say. What do you have to complain about?

It is funny, Why would they think anyone in there right mind would pay for this? You can get the same thing free from other free Webmail providers, with 80% less spam, so why would anyone actually pay MS for e-mail space?

P.S. RSI knows what he is talking about, if you can get the same things better, and free elsewhere then M$ trying to charge you is funny.
