$263,000 with 15 mob members left and you choose the mob.

WAIT A TICK!

I just came to a realization. He had one help left, to trust the mob. Basically, the most popular answer that is picked by the mob is your answer.

The question was "What city is the capitol of the United States?" The answers are reavealed in the following format, "The city with the mayor <insert name>". So Raul chooses to trust the mob. Answer A highlights. They reveal the answer and its B. They then show how many people get to keep the $263,000. Ten people. Wait a minute. Does that mean ten people got the answer right so shouldn't that mean B should have been highlighted? Keep in mind there are only 15 mob players left.

:Q

Bob Saget poses the question.

Contestant chooses to trust the mob.

Answer A is highlighted as the most popular answer picked by the mob.

The correct answer is B.

Ten mob members who will split the winnings. I presume they got the correct answer.

If 10 people picked B, then shouldn't B have been highlighted since 10 people picked B, i.e., the majority.

I understand what you're saying OP... and I'm trusting that your understanding of how the show works is correct, in which case it's kind of confusing to me too...

Ok, now I understand, I was confused by the original post. Sounds like there's some riggin' going on.

I just watched this tonight, and here's your problem. Yes, there were 15 members left of the mob, but 10 of those people picked A, which was the wrong answer. Only 5 of those 15 picked B, and it was then revealed (i.e. highlighted) to be the correct answer. Those 5 people took home around $52k apiece I believe they said.

You just don't remember the numbers correctly, that's why you are getting confused. And I remember this because that guy was a complete idiot for continuing after he said he really wanted to pay off his mom's house (and be a "high roller" in Vegas with the remainder).

Its entirely possible that I am misremembering the numbers.

I'll comb the Internet to see if someone recorded it. *crosses fingers*

No need to comb the internet, I just told you what happened :p. I don't usually watch the show, but the wife likes it, and since she got out of class early tonight, we watched it. After the answer was revealed, and the 5 people were left standing, they were all in shock. Saget talked to a woman in the mob who was one of the 5 left, and she was a high school secretary.

It's only been 3 hours :).

I knew that he lost $263,000 once he chose A. The city with Mayor Richard Daley (Chicago) not B. The city with Adrain Fenty (Washington D.C.).

The next contestant had to use "trust the mob" on his very frist question about John Deere (a truck company) which he had no clue about.

blurredvision, is correct. Only 5 mob members of the remaining 15 guessed the correct answer. So $263,000/5 = $52,600 for each.

That guy was an idiot. Even my eight year old son knew the answer.

I've seen that happen in Deal or No Deal where a lady peaked at $193,000, but eventually won only $200 hoping to win the $1,000,000. Became too greedy & wanted to go all the way.
