I am having two problems with IE lately:

1. I can't view the source of anything. Going to View -> view source does absoultely nothing at all. My HTML editor is set to notepad in the Programs tab of the options menu, so I dunno why its not working. It does not display any errors or anything, it simply refuses to work at all.

2. I can't save any JPEGs as JPEGs. Whenever I try to save a jpeg file, IE wants me to name it untitled.bmp, and does not give me the choice to save it as a jpeg. This is very annoying, since the bmps are about 20 times the size of the jpegs, and it requires me to type in a name for everything instead of just using the jpeg's name

Any help with these issues would be appreciated.

P.S. I tried the knowledge base, but I couldn't find anything there and I didn't have any extra time to search more.

Do you have all the updates installed? Have you tried to reinstall it? Worse comes to worse, use opera or monzilla:moon:

We discussed the BMP issue once in #neochat and discovered at least one reason it happens. If you click a link to open a picture, but the link is in fact to a redirect, then even if the final location is the JPEG itself, IE will only allow you to save as a bitmap. If you refresh the page, it will let you save as a JPEG.

For example, http://www.deskmod.com/?show=showskin&skin_id=10703, click the Download link, which is a redirect (large file by the way). You'll end on the .jpg file, but only be able to save as bitmap. Refresh, and you can save as jpg.

Whether the same thing occurs with images within a page, I don't know. It's not often that I need to save images in IE, and I don't really use it anymore anyway.
