They broke my window, drivers side and passanger, broke the column. They also took my cd deck, amplifier, gps, zune, and my change!!! They also damage my drivers side door panel and passenger side.

I have insurance, so its not that big of a deal, but I have to buy all 'aftermarket' things myself...tomtom, zune, cd deck, and amp.

I had to skip work today too, because I cant drive the car the way it is :(

poor jetta!

BTW : I have pics, but they are not pretty.

Why are you leaving these in your car? If it's not in a garage, then it's never safe to leave this stuff in there.

because I use them constantly....and I have them set in special places in my car, that I custom made.

Sorry to hear that.

I had a pos neon, but I had an aftermarket cd player that got stolen from it. Apparently most dodge vehicles from 1996 were really easy to break in, as the car thief didn't even need to smash my windows.

Lesson is to never leave anything of value in your car where someone can see or suspect that you have something.

This is especially true if you're living in an area where there's more pawn shops than commercial banks.

thast the worst feeling man :(

that hapened to me twice in 2 different places.

the first time i was going to work at 7am (i was like 19 or so) and I walk out to my car and notice my back window is rolled down. i then notice that it's not rolled down, but its just shattered and gone. and i had to go to work in the middle of iwnter w/my window down.

the second time i parked on the street at my girls apartment which was a couple minute walk from her apartment. i was walking towards it from the rear driver side and as i'm opening my driver side door i see something my passenger seat and im like wtf is that? i then look up and notice it's my window shattered but most of it was still stuck to the tint on the window. i then found a rock in the driver side door and a dent on the driver side door (interior). so someone slammed a rock through the passenger side door.

first time they took my radio, second time they took nothing because my face was off my radio and im glad they didn't get into the trunk cause my golf clubs were in there.

EDIT:

it was a jetta too (97).

tint is a reason people will suspect stuff is hiding in your car. my jetta had 20% tint. my new car has 35% tint and you can see easily in there if you try. i just like tint to block out the sun a nd 35% still works for that.

I should have removed the face...but they took the whole deck + cords that went to the firewall, nearly!

Its 20%, not that dark, but dark enough, same reason too. It blocks the sun during the winter very well.

I would suspect that as soon as someone sees the tint on your car they expect you've got something worth hiding. This is why I've never tinted my car. The less you can make your car stick out the better.

i agree but sometimes thats unavoidavle you cant remove and then install your headunit and amps every time you wanna drive your car

ive had 2 Headunits stolen, both times they jimmied the lock so at least windows wernt broken,

1st time i had the face plate off and LOCKED in th eglove compartment which they pried open and took anyway

2nd time the faceplate was inside my apt with me and they stole the radio sans faceplate anyway

lmao, i thought the same thing when my car got broken into 'i have full coverage, no worries!'

Then you call them and find out that the only things that they cover are things that are bolted down and typically professionally installed, you will not be reimbursed for your zune and we will see about the stereo, welcome to being screwed.

yup, so I will be raising my deductible to 1500, as it's worthless. It's at 250, but nothing is covered, screw that! Just as long as I get the free glass.

insurance really is a crock sometimes, it just isnt worth it and I hate them. I filed a complaint against the bbb just out of sheer frustration. I did have free glass replacement thankfully which is funny because they only charge you like 5 dollars a month for that and they take care of any tint you have as well.

edit: I just got my alarm put in two days before my car got broken into. I have two amps bolted down and a sub bolted down with four speakers behind panels and I dont think my face plate was in there. So they tried to be clever and broke the little window that was on teh passenger side and they must have been suprised when the alarm went on like crazy. They then broke my entire back window just to spite me I think.

Sorry bout yall's stuffs

Car we bought about 10 months ago, Dodge Intrepid 2001 - it had stereo unit ripped out, amp inside car was fried (tried hooking up new stereo - no dice)...windows have no tint, one of seat belts is CUT (middle rear).
So we roll around in completely stock Intrepid and there's wires hanging out where stereo was supposed to be. I doubt it will be broken in any time soon :D

Mine got broken into a while back while I was living in an apt. Thieves made out with my amps but couldn't get my head unit out since I used hex screws. Downside was they tore up the dash trying to get to it from the sides and ended up doing way more damage. Then they must've tried to pry it out cause the head unit was damaged from bent marks on the side. They left their screwdrivers and some blood as well getting cut from the sharp metal edges (LOL take that, next time I will put in razor blades!!!). Car alarm didn't help, they disconnected it after breaking my window and popped the hood. Even tho insurance covered it all, it was a PITA.
