I will never move to Texas. That temperature is not normal.
But as defense, we have relatively high humidity here.

How is the winter in Texas ? And Spring, Autumn ?
It depends on the year. Last winter we only had a couple of cold days below 32F. The rest of last Winter the lows were in the upper 40'sF, the highs were in the lower 60's. One recent Christmas day it was 80F. Sometimes you can be switching from the heater to the air conditioner within a 24 hour period.

It is almost 85F here in Illinois. Thats like 30ish C. Absolutely insane. I can't fathom hot weather like this more than a couple of months per year. Even with fan + AC I am sitting in a hot stew of sweat.

It's 101°F here. But with the oppressive 23% humidity (hah) it feels like 102° !!!

Dry air is so pleasant and uncommon.

I know the feeling. Just had a shower with coldest water possible from the tap just before going to bed.
The weather forecast expectation is that at the hottest point in the Netherlands it will be 38C /100F at least on Thursday or Friday.

Are "Basements" a thing there? I know a lot of the NL is reclaimed land, and a lot is in lowlands where you don't want to dig too deep down, so I'm guessing they are rare?

Here in many of the US States, our foundations have a basement below the main house. Usually a utility room with water heater, laundry, and such, but then the rest can be used for storage, or can be finished into more rooms. Basements are excellent.

There are basements here. Just not often. Ground moves around a lot here.
Some places the ground is sinking with 5cm a year.
And it seems because we pump water out of the ground, that this process also releases co2 according to some specialists.

It's been miserable hot here too, not QUITE 35, but we did get some days that hit that. At that point it may as well be MINUS 35. They are both extremes that make it miserable to be outside for any length of time. Though the plus side of it being summer now is even if you spend your day indoors there's day light out and you get some day light through the windows.

I've been wanting to build shelves for my shed so I can finalize that project but I can only stand to be in this weather for like 5-10 minutes before I'm drenched in sweat and I don't really want to use powertools past 10pm when it starts get dark and cool off.

It's hard to complain when summers are so short, but after the 1st week of this it started to get old. :p

No, 25C / 77F with a soft breeze and a blue sky is ideal.

People in arizona are bike riding at 100 and I will be travelling there on Friday.

I was there in February and it was 20 and high of 40.

Did I mention the mosquitoes large enough to carry off pets and small children?

Even better, people are working construction, roofing, and HVAC jobs in those temperatures. Serious props to the two guys who spent all day in my attic replacing my A/C. It was 105f in the house by the time they were done, had to be at least 140f in the attic.
