Bah! Half my RAM is working!

One of my sticks of RAM is giving tons of errors now and I have no clue why. Anyway, I can hear the hard drive get hit even when I browse now since I'm using only 256MB instead of 512MB. Windows isn't a whole lot slower itself but doing anything like browsing is. I'm going to go try some games and post back how much of a difference it makes... *sigh*

Yeah, I'm getting it RMA'ed. The other stick almost finishes memtest but at 99% or 98% it just stops. Since its after the return date, they are willing to let me send one stick, they send a new one and then again so that I have atleast one stick to use. The stick I'm using right now seems a lot more stable.

Are you referring to the voltage? I'm not sure, I leave at all stock settings whatever the motherboard chooses. I don't think I should have to run it out of spec either. And yes, it'll be RMA'ed by newegg. They will ship when my shipment arrives there overnight at not extra charge.

Recently I noticed in my system properties only 256mb of my ram was showing up. This was odd because I had put another 256mb in a while ago and it had been working fine. Both sticks were still in there but for some odd reason it was only using 256mb. I reseated both sticks and booted it up and it came up with the correct 512mb. It kinda bugged me cause it must have happened when I put my new vid card in like 4 months ago so I had been running with 256mb without realizing it. The move from the Geforce 2 Ti to the Geforce 4 4600 made such a big difference in the performance of Unreal2k and GTA3, I never noticed the ram missing! What's weird is that the ram was in the slot, making contact, I should have been getting errors in windows of some kind.
