So this weekend I turn on my HT to watch a movie. I immediately noticed a lack of bass so I get up and check the sub. I see the red led on which means it's on standby. I check the sub input and it's snugly connected. Tried power cycling it and the led never comes back on. Tried a known working power socket but nothing. Less than a year and very light use and it's already dead. Gonna start looking for warranty repair.

Does it wait for a signal to turn on ("auto"), or is it a simple "on/off" switch?

It has an on and off switch. If set to ON, with no signal detected it will go into standby (red led) and will play once it detects a signal (green led). Right now there is no light on the led at all.

Try boosting the sub channel +5 db on your receiver. Mine was not getting enough signal to turn it on. Its worth trying at least..

I noticed at first it powered on, with the red standby light, then you got no power or standby light after checking the connections. Make sure the power cord is firmly connected in the back of the sub if it uses a modular power cord. I have had some problems with this on a H/K receiver I have where the plug can come loose easily from the back of the receiver if I bump it while working on the cables behind it. It's also possible you have a loose fuse or connection on the power supply inside the sub. If you are brave enough to take the panel off, you may be able to easily fix it by checking the connectors.

So if you get the red standby light working again, you need to make sure the sub output on the HT receiver is still working. Sometimes receivers can change the audio settings when a different audio source is detected, which then require a manual audio mode reset back to the correct 5.1 or 7.1 configuration. So make sure the sub output was not turned off accidentally in the process.

And be sure and check all the sub switches and buttons in the back of the sub. My main power buttons for the subs are near multiple rocker switches which are easily bumped and could be changed turning the sub off or on. Which is one reason why I have them turn on when I turn on my power filters.

Most subs also have extra left and right speaker connections for direct connections where no sub output is available on a receiver. Check the sub using these connections to make sure it still works if the receiver audio settings fails to fix it. You can also see if your sound card on your PC, TV or a portable stereo might support a sub output to test the sub. If the sub still fails to work after you tried all the above, then you need to fix it.

If it's an Infinity sub, you got 5 years on the speaker parts and 3 years on the electronics, which is a great warranty.

I have 2 Infinity subs and 2 powered IL60s with the B.A.S.H. 500 watt amps, and have never had a problem with any of them.

Good luck!

I have no idea what model this sub is, but I'll bet $10 a 3W/1.2k resistor (R9) has cooked - that or something else is wrong with the -15V regulator. I'm also willing to bet that if you leave the sub turned off for a few hours, and turn it back on, the red led will come back on. ;)
Pure speculation, but I guess we'll see. ^_^

It's a PS212. I tried removing the amp to see if the fuse or any electronic part was burned out but the amp was sealed. I removed a couple more screws but the cover wouldn't come off so I just put everything back together. I checked the power cord and even replaced it with known working one. Tried wiggling it at the connection but nothing. It's definitely the amp.

Ok, Looks like a different amp than the one I had in mind above. I've had the same problem getting some klipsch amps out, needed to take out the speaker and push on the amp from the inside - just a tight fit was all. Have you checked the fuse?

The subwoofer connector on the back of my old Pioneer receiver stopped working, so I would try your sub with a different receiver if you have one available/know someone who does.
