ok so im sitting here tooling away on a k62 350mhz POWA!!!! ancient IBM aptiva, i hate it, with a passion.

just need suggestion on what to use in building a slightly higher powered machine, with minimal expenditure like 100-150 bucks for the two (board and proc) i dont need overclockability, or xp stability or any of that, just a simple home machine thatll get used for typing reports and the occasional UT frag fest.

is the KT7 still a viable choice? its what i had in my old box, with a duron 800. id like to do something similar power wise, but even with that pc, i had more pwer than i needed, and i overclocked it for the hell of it just to see what itd do. but those days are done, just need simple, until im in my apprenticeship, and not this &^*&^&^(^% aptiva, box for now.

Thanks,

Russ

I would check out pricewatch under "pc kits" or "pc windows". You could sell your old rig in the local paper, and order a new one. If you kept your old monitor and just sold the computer for say $200 dollars, you could buy a complete generic system for about $350-400.

Get an ECS K7S5A with a 1.0GHz Duron...that combo can be found for like $100 sometimes. Even better, it'll take your old SDRAM while giving you the option of going to DDR in the future.
