Badluck? Abit KA7-100

I dont know where to start...I have had so much trouble with motherboards latly. I bought a k7v mb about 2 months ago and I had it running perfectly and stable. A few days later our power company had a huge surge and blew everything in my comp. Weeks later I bought an Abit KA7-100. I have had so many problems with this board. When I first bought the board I noticed all the awards this thing had on the outside of the box. When I installed the MB and got windows running I encountered many problems. The Ka7-100 wasn't running my SoundBlaster 16 PCI correctly. I called tech support and they told me to change a setting in the Bios which was the memory hole. It worked fine but the computer was still unstable and froze up many times. I updated everything there was to update and read a thousand FAQ's. I am still having trouble and I formated my HD and cannot even install windows. Is this badluck or is the MB faulty?
Could someone please help!!!
