How is that a sleeper? It's got a big ass intercooler sticking out of the front bumper.

look at the car ..
it looks stock

stock IS300 has 215 horsies..

that is pushing much over that.

A lot of people hit up IS300's for races and such.. just imagine a E46 taunting this IS300 and getting left in the dust.. well sorta

Car that looks stock, but is in fact much faster. This car is not a sleeper, as it doesn't look stock at all.

you don't usually see it when someone is pull next to you on the highway..
I guess he can cover it up with a mesh grill or something...
Maybe I should suggest it to him ;)

that thing is hard to miss! At least paint the friggin thing black if you really want a sleeper. BTW, since when did Sparco go from making seats, gloves, and such to intercoolers?!?

Methinks the writerr might be rice because he doesn't know the company that makes the intercooler... most likely a Spearco. Also, the owner has a Turbonetics crap on his car. Blargh.

The front end doesn't look very stock, but the rear does.
To the untrained eye, this would be a sleeper.

My thoughts exactly. I saw Sparco and I was thinking... doesn't he mean Spearco?

I love how they show all the mods, the useless electronics crap, the (ugh) body kit, etc. but they don't tell you anything that actually matters - How does it perform?

Numbers, please.

Exactly. A sleeper is supposedly to look slow but go fast. IS300 doesn't look that slow (to an '88 Jetta driver anyway :))

That bugged me too. Where's the torque? HP? 0-60?

hehe, yeah, maybe not "sleeper"...that'd be the equivalent of a done-up Camaro or Firebird, both of which are known and look to be fast cars.

Still a nice car tho, it's very slick.

I think the front end is a little bit shorter ? or a little bit wider.

He basically outfitted the car with the Altezza kit.. which would take some work since it's not a direct fit kit. But it doesn't look much different.
The stock is300 front end is a bit longer as well due the the 5mph crash bar

I promise you that cost way more than the $55K BMW to put together.

And I still would rather have the BMW anyway. A four banger making 600hp isn't going to last long...

IMHO, that dyno graph is fake. AFAIK, horsepower = torque x RPM divided by 5252. From that formula we can see that torque equals horsepower at 5252RPM so horsepower and torque graphs must cross in there. On graph posted above you can see lines crossing at around 6800 RPM's...
