You can see on the one pass attempt where the Ford didn't have the HP to pull into the lead.

Looked like the Ford was in the lead when they both cut the chicane, with the Holden cutting it the most, which should have meant the Holden had to let the Ford pass.

How would that work out? He couldn't exactly turn thru the Ford to make the chicane. If this was the case you'd see them cutting corners all the time and blocking someone to the outside so they could effectively get the pass.

I believe how it works is that they must make the next X amount of apexes without cutting them otherwise they are penalized. I'll ask an aussie friend for the exact rule on that once, he'll probably have a link for the official rule on it.

Right, he should have lifted. The Ford was there first.

PS: I wouldn't have lifted.

Whoa, I want to watch this live in HD sometime. That was fun!

intense racing, but this is still my favorite

oh wow, check out the glowing brake rotors. especially visible from 4:30 - 5:00. Sweeet. Thats a whole dynamic of racing that Nascar lacks - the brakes. Nascar is all gas, tires, and drafting. This is about proper shift changes, brake preservation, and strategic 'bumping'. I like it!

The big competitors are Holdens (general motors) (Commodores, I think, but not sure) and Ford Falcons. In this case the finish was Holden in first, Ford in second.

In case anyone cares, the rules are you must use a production RWD car with a pushrod 5L v8 and run on normal premium fuel.

That did that to keep the japs out. They dont have pushrod v8'a or sell a RWD family car here.

Before the Supercar series we used to have Group A. The Cosworth, then the godzilla, used to kick the shit out of the Ford and Holdens so all the fans stopped watching.

It's not bad though, the cars are damn near identical so it becomes a 'driver' race, rather than a F1 style 'who has the best car and pitstop' race.

EDIT: On a personal note, what's the deal with your boring as batshit driving in a circle 500 times races?

Damn that was intense.

abso-friggin-lutely!

the only downside to racing is that the last 5 laps were exciting, but there were 97 other laps before it got to the point where it really really really really mattered! :D

ALMS is all I try to watch these days. The 4 classes of cars at once is just always so intense.

And Ambrose came from which racing comp?

:p

I see a pattern here... (Australia rocks)

:)

Was just going to post this after seeing Ambrose won today.

Might get the chance to go check out the ALMS (the other series I enjoy) race up at Road America in Elkhart Lake this weekend. :awe:

Damn Ambrose was a great driver. He dominated the shit out of the V8 Supercars.

Then went to the states to drive in circles. :(

Gotta get paid I guess.

Nascar has a few road races. They are usually great. Especially the nationwide ones where they will race in the rain.
