I highly recommend watching the whole thing, but you can skip to the 7:00 mark for the truly ballsy move.

I saw a clip from another race like this once before: neck & neck in the final laps with seriously aggressive passing.

:thumbsup: to the Aussies for keeping some proper racing alive

Saw this on Jalop. It is DEFINITELY some good racing. I wish we had more races like this in America

The V8 Supercar series is broadcasted in the states again, they started it up again this year. It's on the Speed channel. The only drawback is it's not in HD (even in Speed HD) and that it doesn't air until a week later.

They're all some pretty intense races IMO. This one was great to see Whincup hold off the young guy, but he really brought it too.

That was pretty friggin' intense. They were trading some serious paint too. I guess that's legal? It looked like he was literally trying to pitt maneuver the leader in every turn.

On a side note, what kind of cars were those? Looked like Holdens. Monaro or Commodore?

The big competitors are Holdens (general motors) (Commodores, I think, but not sure) and Ford Falcons. In this case the finish was Holden in first, Ford in second.

Nascar has had road races just like that many times. Even in nationwide. Two or three drivers battling to the end just like that.

The irony is that nascar fans seem to hate the road races.

Damn the vett and the Porsche was good. What did they say about the ending? Since the vett did try to do it first lol.

There are races like this in the US. The corvette vs porsche video posted is a good example (ALMS). Whenever NASCAR runs a road course they tend to look like this. The Sprint Cup runs Infineon and Watknis Glen (close to me!). The Nationwide cup runs those two, Road America, and I think one or two other road courses.

Lots of fun to watch. I went to the Watkins Glen race this year. Completely awesome (and of course in the Nationwide rice, the big one happened right in front of my grandstand).

This year's Nationwide race at Road America was awesome. Jaques Villenevue (ex F1 champ) in a vastly inferior car hanging on Carl Edwards' bumper for the whole race. Dude made some totally awesome moves to get around people. He finally took the lead with a few laps to go(edit: I misremembered, he was closing on edwards but had not passed him) and then his engine blew up. It was a heartbreaking end to an awesome race.

Yup the Holdens are Commodores (ie. Pontiac G8.)

The difference being that the ALMS and V8 Supercars actually have something in common with their realworld counterparts other than headlight decals and model name decals. Kind of ironic considering those two don't have "Stock Car" anywhere in the series name.

Honestly, the Vodafone car was just holding up those 3 cars behind him. Much like most street races, they could pressure like hell but they couldn't pass.

All the races in this series are pretty intense. There's been quite a few this year that rank up there with this one IMO. I believe there's three tracks left in the season.

You can see on the one pass attempt where the Ford didn't have the HP to pull into the lead. Jamie Whincup (Vodafone car) is one of the top guys in the series, ironically this is his first season with Holden as he raced for Ford previously.

Also just an FYI, they run each race twice over the course of the race weekend. So there's a Race 1 and Race 2 for each track.
