- Did it work normally at one time, or has the problem always existed?
I was able to use both of these programs ~8 months ago when I built this computer. Many changes have been made since this time. RAM was replaced, numerous applications installed/updated, and Windows Security Patches have been installed. I've also used CCleaner Registry Cleaner weekly/biweekly since this time. I have not run either of these applications over the last few months.
- Is the problem consistent and repeatable, or entirely random, or semi-random?
Repeatable. Launching either program causes the BSOD while on the splash screen.
- I already tried these steps:
I've done basically everything I could find from the first page of a google search on "BAD_POOL_HEADER":
- Attempted to run in Safe Mode = Unable to run due to DirectX not being loaded
- Verified Microsoft Indexing Service is Disabled
- Opened every single folder using the Explore option
- Changed DEP Settings from "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" to "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services".
- I ran sigverif and added .old to any unsigned drivers
- Verified that the UpperFilters setting is not present in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- Deleted the LowerFilters setting in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- Recreated the pagefile
- Modified RAM settings in BIOS (From preset to Auto settings)
- Attempted to replace the RAM. Received slow long beeps with different RAM during POST.
- Uninstalled/Reinstalled 3d Mark 05
- Replaced CPU

While waiting for replies I will be running virus/spyware scans and a chkdsk. My page file is set to a max of ~3000 Mb and I currently have ~4000 Mb free space on my hard drive. Does the page file require contiguous hard drive space? I will also be shuffling around some files to another hard drive and clearing up some space on the main drive.
