Bad application...BAD! I click on "import video" and nothing happens. How can I fix this app without reinstalling XP (AGAIN) "Import pictures" option works just fine.

Would it be because all my vids are on a different sector of the HDD? Please don't tell me to get Pinnacle...it's too expensive! I just need an application that I can edit my videos with.

I tried multiple times also to get videos imported, WMM just kept telling me the videos contained no data. I finally gave up and just used the Ulead software that came with my DVD burner to trim them a bit and burn them.

If you have PureVideo installed that might be conflicting. I know I had problems using Windows Media Encoder with that, and importing MPEG-2 files. ffdshow video/audio decoder seemed to work though. The reason is, for hardware acceleration, PureVideo sends directly to overlay without even passing on data to the next filter, AFAICT.

Hell no, when WMM actually works it's infinitely easier to use, and plenty sufficient for basic work, Adobe Premiere makes baby Jesus cry :p

Wimp :p

Premiere is about $500. I use Avid Liquid, same deal. And you thought Pinnacle Studio was expensive... ;)

RBV5's question is mine. When you say it will not import the video, does it just do nothing or do you get an error? Or, are you trying to have them all in the selection dialog?

Do you know what you want to output them as? Avid Free DV is free, but it only does MOV, IIRC. But, it does have more features than WMM.

you guys should try out adobe premiere elements 2.0

it's a toned down version of premiere for the consumer market. much easier to use and a wiser choice unless you're a profesionnal

It doesn't do ANYTHING at all when I click on it. No errors, it just sits there like a 5 year old kid after being asked to clean their room! :) I don't know what you mean by selection dialog. A Co-worker is giving me their copy of Pinnacle Studio 8 today, so I;ll give that a try.
