Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking mused: "What can I say? A world-class striker shot five times on goal and could have scored seven. That is how it happened."

I've never seen such a thing! The Wolfsburg players must have VW on their minds. What's the equivalent in American sports? 5 home runs in 5 at bats?

Best comparison I can think of is the Colt's 3 TDs with four minutes left in regulation in 2003 against the Bucs. Or Reggie Miller's 8 points in 8.9 seconds against the Knicks. But Lewandowski's 5 in 9 tops both of those in terms of improbability.

The dude lost me as a fan for not staying with BVB and going over to the dark side.

It is crazy how stacked Bayern Munich is. Leverkusen is my team in the Bundesliga, but you have to respect such a powerhouse.

Money talks.

Greed talks.

No loyalty to the team that made him. BVB would have paid up. Lew didn't give them a chance.

Leagues in Europe should have salary caps like the NFL. Wealthy teams like Bayern buy top players from their domestic league and just bench them....to squash ANY form of competition.

You see this in baseball with teams like the A's vs Yankees. That's why nobody watches baseball any more. Competition creates viewership which is why the "Any Given Sunday" NFL is more popular. Each year is a different story.
