My 8.4 WiFi model battery started randomly going all over the place with short battery life. Example: drains to 0% and shuts down. start it back up and it might show 27% and still work for a bit.

seems this is a known issue:

My Tab S 10.5 was working perfect for a month. Lollipop improved performance greatly over the kitkat rom. Anyways I played some Clash of Clans and dropped the battert to like 35% amd plugged it in and went to bed. The next morning I woke up to a dead tablet that wont respond to anything.

very quickly found 2 threads on this too just now:

i just purchased an iPad Air 2. Going to give the other side a try. Will be my first full sized iPad. Im going to sell the 10.5 when its back from warranty. I sent both off.

Yeah, I've had a ton of tablets, and I keep coming back to the iPad.

I keep a Windows tablet around so I can jailbreak my Apple stuff :)

Word.

I've found that my mobile device sweet spot is Android for my smartphone and iOS for my tablet. I have a Note 4 and an LTE Air 2.

I tried both sizes of Tab S, and they were not fast enough for me. If I had to pick one of them, I liked the 8.4 better. My hope is that Samsung refreshes these with new SoCs and Lollipop.

I wanted to update this.

I decided to only send the 10.5 back first to see how the process went. Happy to report it went SUPER well. I was very impressed by Samsung. I shipped it on a Thursday and had it back the following Wednesday. They paid for me to ship it to them via UPS prepaid label, and they overnight shipped it back to me. (I only had to ship it a 4-5 hour drive away from me too)

They had to replace "minor internal components" due to "Incorrect Power Source" being used with a note in capitals "DO NOT USE YOUR COMPUTER TO CHARGE THE TABLET, ONLY THE WALL ADAPTOR".

Is that normal? That seemed kind of odd to me because 1) I never charge by PC, I dont think I've ever had it plugged into a PC, only the wall adaptor it came with and 2) Why couldn't you charge with a PC anyways?

Anyways, Samsung's fast service blew me away, but I really like the iPad Air 2 so the 10.5 is being sold.

Now have to send the 8.4 off......

i often plug tablet/phone into PC to sync huge files. so maybe after sync, the pc starts to charge your tablet? very weird it would kill the tablet. ouch

I don't think it would kill a tablet. Wouldn't it just slow charge it? (.5mV or whatever it is?)
