Bad water pump?

I have been having issues with my 01 Civic, I replaced the thermostat and no luck and I ended up having a leak in my radiator so I replaced that on Friday. The new one has a damn leak but I also notice when running my car is leaking water somewhere behind my engine and I am assuming it is my water pump. Has anyone here did this job before?

Also when I put my thermostat back in the head of the bolt broke off, any suggestions on how I can remove it?

What do you mean by behind? The water pump should be on the fender side.

best to jack it up and see where its dripping from and trace back. Might be a hose, clamp, or a cracked head.

How much of the bolt is left? If a fair amount then vicegrips. If not then drill and tap.

For the bolt you could get an easy out to pull it out, I wish I had one I'd let you borrow it. You could probably get one at the harbor freight off of university.

For the leak, it could be a heater hose or something. I once had a leak on my Integra that was coming from the knock sensor.

Water leaks are going to drain to the lowest point along the block before then going to the ground.

Get the vehicle off the ground and climb under with a light and rags.

Dry off all wet spots and then observe where the dampness is originating from.
You may have to start the engine to get circulation through the pump in order for it to leak.

A leak could be anything, it could also be coming from a different spot and just running down something else. You would really need to do some more investigation.

I found a guy who will replace it for 150 if I buy the parts, seems like a bargain but I am going to take the wheel off on that side and jack it to see if that is where the water is coming from

"I found a guy"

"bargain"

Make sure the guy knows what he's doing. I would watch him and make sure you have a good feeling for his work. A lot of these guys 'used to work for the dealer and are dealer certified but make more money on the side'..... BS in my opinion.

Some advice.. Figure out the actual problem before paying anyone to do anything.

With a coolant leak, something like a missing thermostat bolt can often cause coolant to leak in weird directions. I would fix that bolt, clean the engine off and let it dry, then see if you can find the exact source of the leak.

Once it's dry you can flick a little baby powder on seams etc to make the leaks obvious.
