Just purchased a pny gtx460 this evening and installed the latest 285.38 drivers.

Play some BC2 while i redownload BF3 beta now open last time i played it didn't give me many issues while i used a 9800gtx.

Tonight i went in over 8 servers my system with this gtx460 is really laggy and weapons refuse to show...like a bad glitch or something.

Then poof all of a sudden my screen goes black i swore my pc shut off for a second but the power led on the case was on,the screen comes back on with a nvidia driver software has crashed and has recovered error.

Any thoughts would be of help i'm lost for words

During the latest driver install, did you happen to click "Custom Installation" and then choose "Clean Install" ?

Hmmm ..., could be a heat issue but using a Beta is the worst way to test. How does the 460 fair in other titles? Clean install is a good recommendation I do it every time.

Don't judge your video card based on beta drivers. I heard many bad things about the latest nvidia beta drivers (the ones for BF3)

Download a reliable version of your video card drivers, then try again. Also, try other games.

Might be a PSU issue, though the 460 GTX only requires a bit more power than the 9800 GTX, so it's unlikely.

I was up till 4am this morning dicking with this deal.

I reinstall the drivers clean install game still acts up so for the heck of it i remove the stupid BF3 beta,i reinstall it....now its working just fine.

I hear everyone on the beta drivers i guess i downloaded a bad copy of BF3 from origin or something cause i installed the game after the first driver deal then reinstalled the drivers then the game THEN it wants to work .:\

Thanks everyone for all your help :)

Card isn't to bad but not to happy with 1080p BF3 performance even on low 1920x1080 its not up par for me.

Now the old 9800gtx can play all my piss poor console ports just fine including BC2,bulletstorm,DNF when i did play it and BLOPS on occasion .

Thinking another gtx560ti might be the ticket i had a asus fail on me last month :(

Don't really want to spend over $300 on a video card for a single game that offers a crappy beta map just littered with issues right now while a 4 year old generation mid range card plays all other games fine

I've heard BF3 is quite CPU hungry. Unsure if it's core speed or the number of cores, or even both. What are you packing?

Again, don't judge your video card based on a beta game performance. BF3 still has a long way to go in terms of optimization (both from the game devs and the drivers developers' end).

It should be more than 2x faster than your 9800 GT in other titles. (not to mention all the new tech features) You made a good purchase.
