bad to use fuel injector cleaner before changing old fuel filter?

I tried to change my fuel filter today, but the main bolt will not budge AT ALL. I'll try my luck at it again next week, otherwise i'll have to pay $40+filter at my local mechanic.. :(

Would it be counterproductive to add fuel injector cleaner now before I change the filter, or does it not matter?

Looks like it's rusted...I tried to use some spray I bought for taking care of rusted bolts, it still wouldn't budge... :(

I drive 110 miles/day to get to work and back so i'm just trying to change simple things to get my mileage up (only getting 33mpg right now)...

What spray did you use? How about trying some WD40? Also, tapping the bolt with a hammer may help loosen it up, but be careful not to damage anything.

No, the fuel filter is before the injectors.. obviously.

It won't matter, it will still help clean your injectors.

It's a few dollars and a few minutes in most cars, cheap preventative maintenance.

Always run the fuel injector cleaner through the system before changing the filter, the cleaner will dislodge any sludge and debris in the gas tank,if you change the filter first you are shortening the life span of the new filter.
