Bad then, but in the long run is good.

What occurence in your past seemed like hell then, but thinking back on it...Was actually something that turned out in your favor?

For me,
About 8 years ago I dated this girl. At the time I was working for UPS, unloading trucks (no real future there, for me anyway). She turned out to be a scam artist that screwed me for a good $8,000 (not to mention ruining my good credit). So at the time it seemed like I had THE WORST LUCK in the world!

Thinking back now though, she was the person who got me my first job in computers (CompUSA). That was my stepping stone into the world of Tech. Not that I'm rich now(I could show you some credit card bills that would CHOKE you), but I'm now working for a prestigious Securities firm, and I'm a home and new car owner all because of my Tech know-how.

So as bad as the experience with that person was, good came out of it.

Growing up at and below the poverty line, with a dead beat, abusive, alcoholic father has made me into the person I am today. It was tough growing up, but I'm a better person now for it.

I'd have to say that breaking up with my ex is the "bad" thing that has benefitted me the most. I thank God every day that I was able to get away from her before it was too late (i.e. before I married her). I was fortunate to find out what a piece of trash she was before she got her hooks into me any deeper.
