I don't think they're trying to make a great movie. It's a fun movie, and great for summer.

Yep....total summer popcorn flick (lots of popcorn in 2 and half hours).

I thought this was supposed to be one of the better summers in the last few years box office wise.

A movie like that people will see no matter what others say about it, just one of those "can't miss" popcorn flicks that Hollywood knows will be a success even if it sucks. But yeah, movies suck this summer so far..

1. Miami Vice
2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
3. John Tucker Must Die
4. Monster House
5. The Ant Bully
6. Lady in the Water
7. You, Me and Dupree
8. Little Man
9. The Devil Wears Prada
10. My Super Ex-Girlfriend

Wow, just wow.

Agreed. It's a million degrees outside and I'd be living at the movie theater, but there is NOTHING I want to see.

sucks but can't miss should be about 200 million, not 360 million and counting. 360 million and counting should be a good film, frankly the spidey film was overall a much better film than the pirates one. but at this rate, pirates is probably going to finish in the top 5 all time film grossers. that's just gross.

Yeah, and if it wasn't for the other type of pirates, we'd have made $500 million.

I purely off the strength of the first Pirates movie. People really liked the first one so they're hitting up the sequel. Plus it gets good word of mouth for being a fun movie.

PotC 2 was a pretty bleh movie compared to the first one. It did well because 1) The first one was a big hit, and everyone wanted more. 2) There's NOTHING else to watch.

There was nothing worth a crap last year besides batman begins and harry potter. To me a movie has to be pretty good to brave the annoying theaters to see it. And the theaters aren't getting any more fun to go too while the movies continue to decline more and more in quality. Every time I end up begrudgingly seeing a movie in the theater out of habit these days I leave disappointed.

It was a fun movie. I especially enjoyed Keira Knightly's role as the emaciated skeleton of a once-beautiful woman.

You, Me, and Dupree was awesome! I got lots of laughs from that one. It's the best flick I've seen so far this year.

Actually this summer has been pretty good for the industry.
The last 1/3 of this year is looking weak though.

2007 is going to fvcking rock the box office like none other. I suspect it will be the highest grossing year of all time by a large margin.

i havent seen pirates, but i just saw miami vice and while the gunfights were completely awesome (incredible sound effects), the love story was way overdone. it was decent, id say.

There are a couple of decent horror flicks that are scheduled soon..

I remember "Pulse" right off hand..
It looked to be decent..
Any others?

I agree!

Last weekend my fiancee and I had nothing to do for a few hours, checked out what was playing at the movies and saw it was all just crap so just went home.

I can't even think of any movies that are coming out that I want to see off the top of my head.

Pirates DMC was more fun this time around, and they layed clear groundwork for a 3rd movie. I liked it.

I am waiting for a chance to see Vice, but too busy atm. I *love* Mann's movies.

Superman was pretty good, not great. Spacey saved the movie. I thought SP and LL had weak chemistry, and her husband was a pansy. He should have gotten pissed at SP, and turned evil and helped Luthor kick SP ass. That would have been a nice twist.

I didn't think I'd like it, but FAF-TD was a great popcorn movie. X-men sucked, and Davinci was so-so. Poseidon was boring and predictable but I saw it at discount theatre, so ok. Benchwarmers was typical SNL humor, but I laughed the whole time.

Want to see YM&D and Clerks II.
