This sucks.. Very weird.. Ever since I went to A7N8X-DX.. after about 30 mins of playing CS, the sound goes all fuzzy.. so i can hardly understand the sounds.. Right when i click EXIT on the CS menu, the sound returns to crystal clear. I am currently using the Asus bundled drivers, but i had tried Nvidia reference too, with same result.. Maybe its something to do with those complicated sound settings... I have an older speaker system..

Cambridge 4 point surround w sub, called FPS-2000 Digital... wonder if somehow choosing the wrong settings in my Nvidia APU could cause this.. I'm running DX9 too..

hi,
this happens to me to with an abit nf7-s (v1.0) nforce2 board. mostly in age of empires, it's really annoying.
i havent been able to get it to work properly. i hope that this doesnt mean that i'll have to buy a sound card, since one of the reasong that i got a nforce2 board was the supposedly outstanding built-in sound. i'm running logitech z-640 and dx 9.

check "memory controller" @ your device manager. Make sure you have "Nvidia nForce2 Memory Controller" driver is installed.

I thought I was looking over a thread at amdmb.com in the Asus forum about this, but I can't seem to find it again.

Anyway, the general thought there was it was a DX9 issue. I'll keep looking and see if I can find the link again.

"check "memory controller"

I did check, and all 5 instances do say NVIDIA Nforce2 MEmeory Controller

I'll keep an eye out in case you find that thread...

I can only get 2 speakers to work with the Realtek drivers, so back to the Asus 1.16 drivers for me.

i got all 4 speakers to work. i'll try and remember how.

ps, my fronts are in the green connector, and my rears are in the connector beside it, line in... NOT the surround connector.

ok, you got me. i do NOT have rear speakers working with my "Realtec" control panel.. I tried my rear jack in either line in or rear surround inputs... yet they never make a sound... damn...

OMG.. JUST when I posted this i got it working.. the "TEST" tab in my Realtec panel works on all 4.. Here are my settings:

my rear speaker jack is in the rear surround input next to the SPIF connector.

under spaekaer configuration tab.. i have radio button "4 channel mode" in the right column, i click the middle rectange button until it says rear speaker out. (NOT line in)

OK OK ammendment.. I thought it was working... But all 4 speaker test sounds come from the front speakers.. my rears are still silent..
