Bad sectors on HDD

I have a HDD with quite a few bad sectors. I ran scandisk from dos and checked the disk surface and quite hitting enter after 65 or so that were bad.Is it pretty much trash or is it usable in that condition.I hope this doesnt sound stupid but I dont want to throw it away if it is a common problem
Thanks Charlie

Try another cable, check the voltages reaching the motherboard AND the drive. For the latter, you'll need a voltage meter, but otherwise just use a tiny screwdriver to slightly pry each drive power connector socket between it and the surrounding nylon body. If none of these measures helps, see if the the manufacturer's diagnostic will fix the drive (will erase all data) because sometimes it works wonders.
