Bad SCI-FI

MANTIS Freakin' ruled. So did Viper. The original Seaquest kinda sucked, after watching it now, but DSV was cool. Original BSG was corny, but the new one is teh pwnage.

ill tell you what DIDN'T suck: Firefly. Holy sh!t is/was that sweet. Got the DVD's for xmas

REALLY??? I GOTTA SEE THIS FIREFLY

I was hooking on Firefly since the first episode, I was so dissapointed when they canceled it. I just hope the movie did well enough for them to make another movie and/or new episodes, but I doubt that will happen.

As for the crappy Sci-Fi stuff, I would agree that Andromeda is one of the worst. I can't really comment on some of the older stuff like the original BSG because I've only started to watch scifi shows recently.

Space Hunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone

With a young Molly Ringwold. Tried to make a Han Solo movie and failed miserably, but great movie for laughs. Truly hilarious. Next time you get smashed in front of a movie, go for this one.

Cleopatra 2525 comes to mind along with Andromeda for TV shows. For movies, the recent spate of bad straight to Sci-Fi Channel films like Dragon Storm, Sabretooth, and Caved In comes to mind.

Seaquest constantly went back and forth between good shows and flat-out stupid shows. My favorite "bad" episode was the one with the prehistoric 200 foot long crocodile. Out of nowhere, Lucas (the 16 year old computer whiz kid) became this prehistoric dinosaur expert. Instead of killing the gigantic croc, they decided to save it and put it back on ice. Unfortunately, the did this by drugging it, towing it to an ice flow, then shooting torpedoes at an iceberg causing the croc to be seemingly crushed by giant chunks of ice.

You had to see this at the movies with 3-d glasses to truly appreciate this fine movie. 😉

I actually saw Andromeda, and I don't watch very much TV. Yeah, it was pretty horrible.

There was another show in a similar vein with these aliens that looked very much like the aliens from Battlefield Earth. What I specifically remember was them unearthing one of the aliens from under Stonehenge where he had been sleeping for 500 years or something, and he comes out talking like "Thou to thee, verily" and stuff... in an American accent. Damn that show sucked.

Edit: That reminds me. The actor who played the lead in Andromeda, Kevin Sorbo, was also the guy who played/plays Hercules. That show sucks too, but it's not Sci-Fi.

Oh yeah, don't forget the old War of the Worlds TV show. That was just baaaaad.

BSG 😉

*dons flamesuit*

Kidding aside, it really is one of my least favorite sci-fi shows, and everyone talking about how good it is only strengthens my position.

It's almost cliche now, but Plan 9 from outer space (which I saw 2 weeks ago) was really, really, REALLY bad.

Oh c'mon what was so bad about Andromeda? Trance Gemini was teh hotties 😀 And so was the Star leader/ Avatar of the Abysse at the end of season 5. I for one have actually seen every Andromeda episode. And btw, I liked Hercules as a kid 😛 Watched it all the time with my mom on sundays (She loved it).

Wow, I am getting old. I remember my dad taking me to see Spacehunter: Adventures in the forbidden zone when it was in the theatre in 3d. And yes, it sucked really bad even in 3d. I love the new battlestar, it rocks. I will also put in a plug for Firefly. I caught a stray episode or two on Sci-Fi and i cant understand why this show failed. It is great: gritty and unapologetic with clever dialogue and often unexpected paths for a tv show to take. I am going to head out and buy the series on DVD. Good stuff.
