i have an amd 1.1ghz not o/c, 384mb pc133 rev 1.5 mushkin, maxtor 45gig ata100, msi pro2a mobo w/ 1.8 bios. my memory scores are pretty pathetic, i'm wondering whether a bios update or switching some settings should help, but i'm also wondering whether the rest of the benchmarks are normal as well for my setup:

cpu: 3062/1512
multimedia: 6149/7481
drive: 19782
memory: 352/362

I don't have that board, so I can't help you specifically with the memory settings. Your CPU and hdd scores are both good (although my IBM drive got a little bit more when I ran it as non-RAID/single drive). But your memory marks should sure be higher. My system, Abit KT7 with PC133 CAS2 (medium timings) just benched in at 484/567... Are you sure you run your memories at 133 MHz bus and not 100?

Addition: check out this: BIOS update speeds up memory (?).

:)

If you flash your Bios to 2.4 and use the SPD setting for your memory it will enable 4 way interleave and your mem scores will rise significantly

I had the exact same problem. Go into the advanced bios config and set the Ram timing to "SPD" instead of doing it yourself. I was getting high 300's and low 400's and now i'm getting 500/600 mem scores. something about the aggressive mem timings when it is set by spd. Hope this helps. Peace out.

ok, i changed the settings under bios to yes for spd and it did bump things up but not as much as i would have liked. right now i'm getting 406/451 and this is still with bios 1.8 (i'm not flashing a new bios just to be safe since i need to get some work done on this pc this week). so while the benchmarks went up they are still slower compared to an amd 1 ghz w/ 256mb pc133 ram. would the new bios give a significant boost in scores or is there something else i should set in my current bios? thanks.

your system crushes mine! I'm not sure but i'm running an FSB of 113 at the moment and on sisoft i'm getting 480/580. This is with a duron 700@790, MSI KT7 pro2a, 256 CAS2 Crucial PC133 (150mhz). Your's should be around the same as mine. what 4in1 drivers are you using i'm using 4.29a beta ones. gives me a slight performance increase over 4.28. Peace out.

My memory scores went up from 360/410 to 410/506 using a non-overclocked Duron 700 and Pro 2A.

My scores went from 361/407 to 390/423 after SPD on my Duron 800 running on a MSI Pro2A. Also, I only have a single 256MB PC100 stick of Kingston value ram...

Updating your BIOS to 2.2 or higher will help boost those mem scores a little more by enabling 4-way interleaving....

just upgraded to bios 2.4 today and my memory scores stayed (400/440) the same when enabled by SPD. i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, but can someone tell me the optimal settings for all the memory options in the 2.4 bios? thanks

also does it matter what version of the 4in1 drivers i'm using? i forget exactly which one i'm using but it was whatever was the latest in late december, possibly 4.26. do those have any significance to improving memory scores as well? thanks

Try to update to the 2.4 bios. Set ram timing to SPD. Like i said i'm using Crucial CL2 PC133 ram @ CAS2 150 and get good mem scores. Try to use the VIA 4.29Final drivers, i'm currently staying with 4.29betas. My scores were barely beating the Duron 600 and now they totally crush it. Try a different mem slot. Try different memory. Peace out.

i always use oc bios from MSI

i was running oc bios 1.4
the mem score is 461/533

after i switch to oc bios 1.6 it is 493/595

i believe oc bios give you more memory performance
