How do i cope with a bad roomate? I live with this guy i've known since 6th grade, and only since we've moved in, I've noticed that he's a nightmare. He's a great person. Really nice n stuff, but weird. He's really cheap, well cheap doesnt define it. Once it was his turn to buy dinner, and he came home with 2 tacos from Jack in the Box...you know..the one's that r 2 for a dollar? He doesnt buy anything for the apartment... yea... anyways He does nothing to help enhance the apartment, and he is sooo messy. I think he's done the dishes twice since i've been here. He throws his clothes all over the place, and is sooo annoying. he sits in his room all day, and tries to find stuff on the net. I tell him to clean up, and he doesnt do it, so i end up doin it, and i get mad. There's really no way i can get around it. When people come over, i dont want them to see a big mess. Wat should I do?

dude talk to him, if he is such a great person i am sure a good honest talk will let him see how his "living" is affecting you living.

Stand up to him. Tell him to start chipping in and cleaning up or his ass is out. Friendship only goes so far...

Take a dump in some of his underwear then hide them in his room somewhere....in the hunt to "find that smell" maybe he will clean things up a bit.

My last roommate was hell, but that was mostly due to living in a college dorm. If he leaves dishes out, put them on his bed. Just pile everything onto his bed. Only clean when he is around. That way he can see you and think, maybe i should help...

Or just move out.

You could try talking to him again, or maybe you two could sit down and make out a roommate agreement.

It may very well be that this person is just not going to be courteous and clean up after himself. If that's the case, you may want to consider asking him to leave, or leave yourself and find a roommate that will work out better.

I had a horrible roomie in college. Besides being so loose that an entire floor of guys got disgusted by her, she left her filth (including used tissues) everywhere. She had no sense of common decency whatsoever, and even went as far as to try to force me out. Turns out that when we'd filled out the roommate pairing form (form used by the college to pair up like-minded people), she filled hers out exactly opposite of who she is with the "opposites attract" mentality. Boy did that backfire.

Living with another is about compromise and courtesy. You need to try to reach an understanding with your roomie, and there will be give and take on both sides.

Good luck.
