yeah the song "let them eat war DEFINATELY has some strong lyrics against the situation in Iraq and I like how he does it. however, my favorite song is God's Love

STF is the best IMO

I would agree it is the best album after this new one. Songs like "Inner Logic" and "Stranger Than Fiction" are good examples of what Bad Religion is really about IMO

I made my own Bad Religion "Best Of" CD... it was painful trying to trim it down to what would fit on an 80 min CD and still represent their entire career.

Oh gee... another anti-america song. How original.

What are you talking about?

The title song of the album. Have you heard the lyrics?

Yeah, I have listened to it. I don't really have a problem with an artist articulating his feelings towards current events. Greg Graffin's lyrics tend to be socially concious. I would rather listen to him speak in a somewhat educated fashion than listen to some idiot pile on because it is an election year.

I see. So people you like and/or agree with are "speak(ing) in a somewhat educated fashion" during an election year. And people you don't like and/or don't agree with are "some idiot pile on because it is an election year?"

This is an election year, you know.

The point I was making is that I don't have a problem with Greg Graffin writing a song like that becuase that is what he has always done. He didn't just write a song about how he feels there is something wrong with the United States because it's an election year and he has the platform. He is always socially aware. He is educated.

Old thread, but yeah, this new album is great. I actually really liked Process of Belief too. IMO, the only 2 "weak" albums by them are No Substance and New America, I just couldn't get into either of them.

I'd agree with that. I liked No Substance better than New America. New America is definitely my least favorite BR album.

I'll have to listen to this one. I haven't heard all of their albums, but The Process of Belief and especially No Control are great.

I have to agree, at first I didn't like this album, now I LOVE it.

I went to the show in Toronto a couple weeks back and it absolutly rocked. So I started listening to Empire strikes First full time.
Gods Love is my favorite song on the album. The quickening, All there is and live again - the fall of man are great too. The whole album is great.

Greg does a lot of singing on the album, the backup vocals are spot on and as always the lyrics are pristine.
They sound even better live than they do on the albums.

Better live? I assume their tickets are still reasonably priced as well?
Eh, the odds of them coming to Omaha are probably slim...

Yea, everytime I've seen them, they are better live than on recordings. It's quite amazing actaully, because you would expect the opposite.

The ticket was $20 plus whatever lame ass surcharges ticketmaster likes to tack on.

I have to agree on how they sound live. They have always been a great live band.

never seen them live but am tempted to check em out if they swing by chi-town. I love the depth of his lyrics in this album, and his deep meaning behind the songs. As far as New America goes..... The album isint that good, but I feel the song "Don't Sell Me Short" is one of their best songs ever

Totally. Rocking for 20+ years and they still blow away 95% of the acts out there.
