Bad Refresh Rate in Games.

I always have my refresh rate at 85 hz at 800x600 during desktop usage, but when I play games, it's at 1600x1200 and the stupid games automatically make the refresh rate like 60 hz or something crappy....AND IT WON'T LET ME CHANGE IT!

Is this for every game, or just some? (Ex. GTA: VC)

Many developers fail to include basic settings like that. Sometimes it can be done with archaic editing of configuration files. But otherwise the video card drivers, DirectX or some other program must be falled back upon to handle it. If 75 Hz is the max for 1600 and you don't mind running that at 800 too, then set the Refresh Rate Override for that value (under the ATI Displays - Monitor button). If you had an NVIDIA card, then individual RR's could be set for each res. Otherwise try Refresh Force or Refresh Lock or the like.

Oh yeah, I guess I missed the forcerefresh thing in the ATI control center. 😱
But I forced it at 85 hz and all my problems went away, thanks!

yup...just required to change it in the control center

ahh okay, good to know I can still override refresh rates at any resolution with my hopefully new GIGABYTE GV-RX80L256V Radeon X800XL 256MB AGP video card 🙂.
