Just had a quick question hopefully someone could help me out with that use to own,or know the K7S5A Board.

I recently purchased a 256Mb Kingston PC2100 DDR for this Board for my Nephew.
When first installing the Ram in the board,it picked it up fine.
Then later that night i did a reboot after a prog wasn't working correctly, and noticed it was now only being picked up as 128Mb.

I swapped many times from slot to slot with no luck.
I also tried the Ram on my Epox Board and it did the same.
Then tested my Crucial 256Mb in the K7S5A and it worked fine.

So was hoping maybe it was just the board since i've heard that this board has issues with certain DDR.Then i could just get a compat Stick of DDR.

Ram Specs:

Kingston 256Mb PC2100 DDR:
266x64c25/256
Chips read: 32Mx8 DDR-7-T (Was thinking maybe this was the problem - Single sided chips)

System Specs:

K7S5A (New Bios)
XP 1800+
256Mb Kingston DDR

If anyone could help me out i'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Single sided chips? Nah. Big 32Mx8 256-Mbit chips, eight needed for a 256-MByte DIMM. K7S5A can handle these no problem, even twice as large ones would work.

Besides, if the RAM behaves the same on a completely different board, then it's plain and simply bad. Have it exchanged.

Yeah i sorta was thinking it could have been bad.
i've had no problems at all with Ram and the Epox board..but the Kingston wouldn't work no matter what i tried.

So i tried it in yet another Epox board earlier today and same result.
so i went ahead and got an RMA # and shipped it out today.
Hopefully that was the problem.

Thanks for the info.
