I've been having problems with random crashes for the last couple of months. Sometimes after a crash my box would hang during POST - the diagnostic indicator on my motherboard would indicate a RAM failure. I pulled out one stick of RAM (originally had 2x512 MB), and the problems went away for a couple of months.
Now, it's started doing it again - same symptoms (random crashes, occasionally fails POST & reports a RAM failure). I tried moving the RAM to a different slot and the problem seems to have gone away (for now). I also ran MEMTEST86 on it - the first time it showed 160 errors almost immediately, but every time I've retested it since then it shows 0 errors.
BTW, motherboard is an ABIT IT7-MAX2, 3.06 GHz P4, 512 MB PC2700, Win2k SP4. Been using it for about two years with no problems (until now...)
