bad RAM caused win2k profile to move to .bak folder

My customer's RAM module went bad. While using the module, he was able to boot to Win2k pro with varying degrees of success. Sometimes would bluescreen, sometimes could get to desktop but with many errors. Replacing the RAM fixed this, however when we logged in, it was as if he was a new user. No favorites, windows didn't know how to connect to the internet, outlook doesn't work; it asks to set it up, missing desktop items, empty My Documents folder... I noticed that in the c:\documents and settings, all his old stuff was under his username.bak folder. I was unable to rename this as it was a system folder. How can I restore his old profile? I can simply copy over items like favorites and My Documents, but I can't get the Outlook settings (this is the most important issue). How do I restore the original settings? Thanks!
