Hey At!

I bought two ATI TV wonder's VE's (shuda done some research to find out what VE meant :p). Anyway the picture quality i'm getting is worse than a normal TV picture. Just wondering if this is normal for a ATI TV Wndr VE. Some channels are better quality than others.

The Tuners hooked up to Digital Cable so i should be getting good quality. It is however on a splitter with my modem and the other tuner card @ 5.7db (cable guy set it up, maybe thats the prob?) So i have a few questions.

Is this normal for my card?
Could it be the splitter?
And what else could cause lousy picture quality?

And thanks!

dscaler does not work with ATI All-in-Wonder cards.

I was under the impression (by the reviews) that the AIW VE had really GOOD image quality! Maybe it doesn't like "digital" cable?

thats what i thought too, i'm real dissappionted. Not sure what the "digital" cable is :p. Some channels are in HDTV i guess thats what it means, but it's what i have.

I'm using the Drivers/stuff from ATI's website to watch tv. I had to download the drivers since it didn't come with WinXP drivers.

I'll try the dscaler!

I think most of us have analog cable. Digital refers to a satellite dish or digital cable box if you subscribe to it. Mine looks pretty darn good and i'm using the leadtek winfast 2000xp deluxe tv tuner.

Try your cable line with a tv or something to see if it's the cable andn ot the video card.

i have two ati wonder ve pci tv cards - running Dscaler with
outstanding full screen images.

plugged the cable line into the ve wonder - on my "slow" computer (500mz p3) - won't run full screen (runs fine in smaller screen)

on my 1.6gz machine - runs full screen like a champ - excellent images with dscaler (better than the ati driver generated images)

what is the speed of your machine, and have you tried dscaler yet?

ati ve wonder is NOT the same as a ati aiw card....

It's the ATI wonder VE. I have a 1.4Ghz Athlon XP (1700+ i think).

Dscaler gave me some nice high quality TV. The only problem is it won't show up on my 2nd monitor, guess it doesn't support both of them, which is what i use the 2nd monitor is for.

I might just not have it setup right. Thanks for the help!

Regular cable isnt digitally compressed, its just held back by the RF transmission it has to do to get down the line.
Digital TV is compressed, and if you hook it up to your tv or tuner with a standard coaxial cable, its not only degraded because of the compression, but also the RF youre pushing it down to your tuner.

Use the S-video input on your tuner and itll look great.
