Hello,
I have a weird problem. 3 days ago I went to shut down my PC and it acted like most things shutdown as normal except that the case, CPU, and VGA card fans continued to spin.
BTW my PC has been doing this for the past couple months, but after 30 seconds or so the fans would eventually stop and everything would be shut down.
As time has gone by it has started taking longer and longer for the fans to shut down.
This time was different though as the fans never did shut off.
I tried unplugging the power cord and then plugging it back in. The fans would begin to spin again without touching the power button. Pressing the power or reset buttons had no affect and the PC wouldn't POST.
I've tried clearing the CMOS, using only 1 stick of RAM, etc.
Finally I took the PC to a local shop and they hooked up a new Coolermaster 400w PSU and still had the same problem. He opened and hooked up another new Coolermaster and still no joy. The guy then hooked up a cheapo generic PSU and the PC booted ok, but it only had the 4pin P4 connector and not the 8pin EPS connector my board takes so I had him order a new Ultra 600w PSU.
He tested the 2 new Coolermaster PSUs on a PSU tester and said it had bad readings on the Power Good Signal whatever that means.
Do you think the PSU is my problem or could it be something else like my motherboard or ??
I hooked my "non working" PSU to a old athlon XP board I have and it booted it ok.
The specs of my PC are in my sig. Only thing different is I have upgraded the vid card to a 9800GT EE that doesnt take an additional power plug and upgraded my OS to Windows 7.
Oh and my non working PSU is a Coolmax 550w
thanks
