So I just installed a new power supply into my system from a AX850 to a HX750 corsair, and was testing it. Everything seemed fine so I began to play some FFXIV, and all of a sudden I heard a click noise and my computer screen went black and then shut off. As I proceeded to turn it back on, my screen just said lost connection, check source/power etc (which is the same screen as when my computer goes to sleep)... I've tried the following
1) Reseat the Graphic Card
2) Switch the hdmi cable and try different port
3) Switch the power supply
4) Tried to access safe mode and bios
5) check if it booted if removed graphic card - This worked
6) switch the graphic card - This worked
Normally I would chalk this up to that my card just died, but it was weird that before this the AX850 had worked 100% fine for several months. The card has never been overclocked and has never ran higher then 60C. But I didn't smell anything burnt and I think the HX750 still supplies power to my system (I dont' really want to plug it in and use it again just in case).
TLDR: Can a power supply kill a graphic card without burning it?
